Greece launches various public health and awareness initiatives
Various public health initiatives and awareness campaigns are being organized across Greece throughout October, focusing on preventive care and mental health.
In Athens, the Municipality is hosting several free medical actions at its municipal clinics. These include a webinar on breast cancer treatments in collaboration with the Hellenic Cancer Society, nutritional information and BMI measurements at the Kypseli Municipal Market, and free digital mammography screenings for women aged 40-69.
Mental health awareness is a major theme, with events scheduled in Volos organized by the Panhellenic Federation of Mental Health Organizations (POSOPSY) and the Association of Families, Caregivers, and Friends (SOPSY) of Magnesia. Additionally, the Greek Emotional Center is hosting a seminar in Athens discussing modern counseling challenges, including social media addiction and the impact of AI on therapy.
Regional and social initiatives include a Public Health and Social Care Week in the Eastern Macedonia and Thrace region, covering topics from maternal care to elderly support. The Greek Red Cross is also conducting awareness activities for the elderly in Chalkida, emphasizing the importance of longevity and healthy aging.
