Health benefits of yogurt include gut health and bone support

Research and nutritional analysis indicate that yogurt offers several health benefits due to its nutrient profile and fermentation process. As a fermented milk product, yogurt contains proteins, calcium, potassium, phosphorus, and vitamins, which support bone strength and muscle mass maintenance.

Probiotics found in many yogurt varieties can help balance the gut microbiome and support gastrointestinal function. Additionally, the high protein content can assist in weight management by promoting a feeling of fullness.

Studies involving researchers from Harvard University and Brigham and Women’s Hospital suggest that yogurt may play a role in healthy aging. While full-fat yogurt contains saturated fat, some controlled studies have linked probiotic yogurt to reductions in total and LDL cholesterol in certain individuals. The fermentation process also makes the product easier for some people to digest compared to standard milk.
