Health Canada recalls 30,000 power banks over fire hazard

Health Canada has issued a recall for approximately 30,000 XO Poppy 5000 mAh MagSafe-compatible power banks due to fire and burn hazards. The devices, manufactured in Vietnam by Truststone Group, were sold at Winners, HomeSense, and Marshalls across Canada between May 2024 and March 2026.

The recall was initiated because the lithium-ion batteries in these power banks can overheat and melt at the charging port while plugged in. While no injuries or incidents have been reported in Canada as of the announcement, the recall is being conducted as a precaution.

Consumers are advised to stop using the affected power banks immediately. They can be returned to any Winners, HomeSense, or Marshalls location for a full refund, regardless of whether the consumer has a receipt. Affected models include various versions such as PBK5M-DB1, PBK5M-F10, and PY-PBK5M-BW8, among others.
