Health centers launch seasonal influenza vaccination campaigns

Health centers in the United States are launching seasonal influenza vaccination campaigns to prepare for the upcoming flu season.

In Zanesville, Ohio, Rambo Memorial Health Center has begun offering free annual flu shots. Executive Director Shannon Bell noted that the current vaccine is tri-valent and advised that immunity typically takes two weeks to develop. The center is offering extended hours on certain weekdays and a Saturday in October to accommodate workers.

In Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, the Munson Army Health Center will start its 2026 seasonal vaccination campaign on October 2. The first of five community events will be held at Frontier Chapel. The campaign is open to TRICARE beneficiaries aged six months and older. While regular doses are available, officials are still awaiting the arrival of high-dose vaccines specifically intended for patients aged 65 and older.
