Health City Cayman Islands performs Caribbean’s first FARAPULSE procedure

Health City Cayman Islands has performed the first FARAPULSE™ Pulsed Field Ablation (PFA) procedure in the Caribbean. This treatment is designed for patients suffering from atrial fibrillation (AFib).

Unlike traditional ablation methods that use thermal energy—either heat or cold—to treat heart tissue, FARAPULSE utilizes non-thermal pulsed electrical fields. This method allows for the selective targeting of abnormal heart tissue while minimizing damage to surrounding structures, such as the esophagus and phrenic nerve.

According to Dr. Ravi Kishore, chief interventional cardiologist and electrophysiologist at Health City, the procedure is minimally invasive and typically allows for rapid recovery, with most patients returning home within 24 hours.
