Health crisis in Cyprus and refinery explosion in Greece

In Cyprus, the Ministry of Health has temporarily suspended the operations of a private clinic in Nicosia following the diagnosis of Legionella pneumophila in a newborn. Preliminary testing of the facility's water supply network confirmed the presence of the bacteria. As a precaution, all newborns from the clinic have been transferred to other hospitals, including the neonatal intensive care unit at Makarios Hospital. Health authorities have increased epidemiological surveillance and are conducting additional environmental inspections, noting that no other suspected or confirmed cases have been identified at this time.

In Greece, an explosion occurred at the Motor Oil refinery in Agios Theodoros, Corinth, during maintenance work. Two contract workers sustained multiple injuries and burns and were transported to Corinth Hospital for medical treatment. This incident follows a separate fatal accident at the same facility on October 9, which resulted in the deaths of two employees.
