Health experts discuss endurance training and nutrition
Health experts are highlighting the importance of structured training and proper nutrition for physical well-being. The 4x4 interval training method is noted as an efficient way to improve endurance. This method involves four high-intensity intervals of four minutes each, separated by periods of active, low-intensity recovery. It can be performed through running, cycling, or using an elliptical machine, provided the intensity is managed carefully.
Sports medicine physician Juozas Jankauskas warns that physical activity must not be decoupled from nutrition. Consuming insufficient energy and nutrients while exercising intensely can hinder recovery. Jankauskas also notes that physical discomfort, such as back pain, may not always originate from the site of pain; factors like posture, footwear, body mechanics, or even digestive issues can contribute to systemic discomfort. He advises that while muscle soreness is normal, pain that persists through rest, interferes with sleep, or lasts into the following day requires medical attention.
