Health experts discuss pain management and medication safety
Medical professionals in Lithuania are highlighting different approaches and risks regarding physical pain management. Osteopathy is being presented as a holistic method to address the root causes of pain in the back, neck, and joints. According to osteopath Paula Kazlauskienė, this practice involves manual work with soft tissues, bones, joints, and the nervous system to correct biomechanics and restore bodily balance. It can also be applied to issues such as posture, muscle tone in infants, headaches, and digestive or respiratory dysfunction.
In contrast, health experts are issuing warnings regarding the use of unregulated joint pain medications, particularly those originating from Russia and other Eastern markets. These products often bypass European Union safety and quality standards and are frequently sold illegally through social media or marketplaces. A major concern is the lack of transparency regarding ingredients; independent tests have found potent corticosteroids in some illegal topical treatments. While these substances provide rapid pain relief, uncontrolled long-term use can lead to severe consequences, such as skin atrophy and internal organ damage.
