Health experts discuss sleep hygiene and emotional eating habits

Dr. María Aguilar Andújar, head of the Sleep Disorders Unit at Hospital Universitario Virgen Macarena, highlights the societal tendency to undervalue sleep. She notes that modern work schedules, personal obligations, and electronic device usage often lead individuals to prioritize daily activities over necessary rest. To synchronize the internal biological clock, she recommends maintaining a consistent daily wake-up time.

Psychologist Andrés Montero, director of Ethos Psicólogos, addresses the distinction between physiological, emotional, and sensory hunger. He explains that emotional hunger occurs when individuals consume food, such as sweets, to alleviate feelings like stress, boredom, or sadness. This behavior often stems from childhood associations where certain foods were used as comfort.
