Health experts link chronic work stress and frequent night waking to serious medical risks

Prolonged dissatisfaction and toxic conditions at work can trigger chronic stress, raising the risk of heart disease, anxiety, depression and chronic fatigue. Specialists suggest that thoughtfully leaving such a job may improve physical and mental health, provided financial and professional considerations are weighed.

Regularly waking up during the night may signal underlying medical problems. Possible causes include hyperthyroidism, which accelerates metabolism and produces symptoms such as irritability, rapid heartbeat and night sweats; dysregulated blood‑sugar levels seen in pre‑diabetes or diabetes, which can prompt sudden awakenings, hunger, sweating or frequent urination; and sleep apnea, characterized by brief breathing interruptions, loud snoring and daytime drowsiness, and linked to hypertension and cardiovascular disease. Early medical assessment is recommended for persistent night waking accompanied by any of these signs.
