Health experts recommend cholesterol formula and active living to boost longevity

Medical specialists highlight a simple calculation to assess cholesterol risk: dividing triglyceride levels by HDL cholesterol. Values above three may indicate a high chance of arterial plaque, according to cardiologist Aurelio Rojas, who cited a case of a 50‑year‑old patient with a 90 % artery blockage despite only mildly elevated cholesterol.

Researchers also stress that maintaining physical, mental and social activity is crucial for reaching and thriving past the age of 100. Regular daily tasks, exercise, and social engagement help preserve independence, cognitive function and overall well‑being, reducing the risk of functional decline in older adults.
