Health experts recommend strength training for abdominal fat loss
Health experts suggest that traditional sit-ups alone are insufficient for achieving a flatter stomach, as abdominal muscles remain hidden if covered by excess body fat. Reducing visceral fat is critical for health, as it is linked to increased risks of diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
To effectively reduce abdominal fat, specialists recommend a combination of strength training, cardio activities, and proper nutrition. Research from the Harvard School of Public Health indicates that men performing 20 minutes of daily resistance training saw less abdominal fat increase over time compared to those focusing solely on aerobic exercise. Similarly, resistance training has been linked to lower abdominal fat in postmenopausal women.
Complementary exercises such as Pilates and planks can further improve muscle tone and core stability. Specifically, the wall plank is highlighted as an effective tool for strengthening the core, improving posture, and alleviating back pain caused by sedentary lifestyles. Maintaining a strong core provides better spinal support and helps correct postural imbalances caused by prolonged device use.
