World Arthritis Day: Experts urge early diagnosis to prevent joint damage

On World Arthritis Day, medical experts in Turkey and India are emphasizing the critical importance of early diagnosis and appropriate treatment for various forms of arthritis to prevent permanent joint damage and preserve mobility.

In Turkey, health professionals highlight that arthritis is not a single disease but a category of conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and osteoarthritis. Experts warn against ignoring symptoms such as joint swelling, morning stiffness, and restricted movement, noting that these can affect individuals of all ages, including children and young adults.

In India, the health impact is significant, with estimates suggesting nearly one in six people are affected. Data indicates a substantial rise in osteoarthritis cases, with global estimates from the World Health Organization showing a 113 percent increase in people living with the condition since 1990. Specialists recommend a combination of medication, physiotherapy, and lifestyle modifications to manage symptoms and improve quality of life.
