Health experts warn against adding salt to infant diets
Experts advise parents against adding salt to infant meals to avoid health risks. While parents often add salt to enhance flavor, babies do not require additional seasoning as they are still discovering the natural tastes of various foods.
Excessive sodium intake can strain a baby's developing kidneys, which are not yet fully capable of processing large amounts of salt efficiently. Long-term high salt consumption may also negatively impact blood pressure. Furthermore, introducing strong salty flavors early on can influence a child's dietary habits later in life.
It is noted that salt used as an ingredient in a family recipe is different from salt added directly to a baby's portion, as the former is distributed throughout the entire dish, resulting in a much smaller amount per serving.
