Health experts warn against ignoring symptoms of anal and prostate cancer

Medical experts are highlighting the importance of distinguishing between common ailments and serious conditions like anal and prostate cancer. For anal cancer, symptoms such as sudden lumps near the anus, bleeding during bowel movements, persistent pain, itching, or changes in bowel habits are often mistaken for hemorrhoids or fissures. Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is identified as a primary risk factor for anal cancer, which is a relatively rare disease.

Regarding prostate cancer, men are advised not to dismiss urinary changes as merely a result of aging. While conditions like Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), urinary infections, or diabetes can cause frequent urination or a weak stream, persistent changes or blood in the urine and semen may indicate more serious issues. Because early-stage prostate cancer often presents no clear symptoms, medical professionals emphasize that persistent pelvic, hip, or lower back pain should also be evaluated by a doctor.
