Health experts warn against normalizing persistent physical symptoms

Common physical symptoms such as persistent fatigue, intestinal changes, and recurring pain are often normalized in daily routines, but medical experts warn that they may indicate underlying health issues. The Brazilian Ministry of Health emphasizes that early diagnosis and medical follow-up are vital strategies to reduce complications from chronic diseases, which remain a leading cause of death in Brazil.

Persistent fatigue that does not improve with rest can be linked to anemia, hormonal changes, cardiovascular diseases, or anxiety. Similarly, digestive issues like frequent constipation, bloating, or abdominal pain require investigation, especially if accompanied by weight loss or blood in the stool.

Regarding digestive health, occasional heartburn after heavy meals is common, but frequent burning sensations—specifically those occurring two or more times a week for at least four weeks—may indicate gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Experts advise against ignoring these signals, as normalizing symptoms can delay the detection of more serious conditions.
