Health experts warn of lifestyle impacts on blood pressure and transient memory loss

Medical experts are highlighting various lifestyle factors and neurological conditions that impact long-term health. Regarding cardiovascular health, doctors warn that several daily habits can silently contribute to hypertension. Beyond salt intake and physical inactivity, factors such as insufficient sleep (less than seven hours per night), skipping breakfast, dehydration, and prolonged sitting can increase blood pressure. Additionally, smoking and excessive alcohol consumption are noted for their immediate and long-term effects on heart rate and vascular pressure.

In the field of neurology, experts are drawing attention to Transient Global Amnesia (TGA), a disorder where individuals suddenly lose the ability to form new memories for several hours. While patients may continue to speak and walk normally, they cannot 'record' new experiences, often leading to confusion regarding time and recent events. This condition, which affects approximately 5 in 100,000 people annually, is most common in those aged 50 to 70 and can be mistaken for a stroke until ruled out by medical imaging.
