Health experts warn of the physical and cognitive impacts of chronic stress
Health authorities and medical professionals in Spain and Panama are warning about the physiological and cognitive dangers of chronic stress.
In Marbella, Spain, Dr. Javier Moreno of Quirónsalud Marbella highlighted during a training session for entrepreneurs that while acute stress can be mobilizing, chronic stress is wearing. He noted that persistent stress can impair decision-making, professional performance, and leadership, often manifesting through sleep disturbances, fatigue, and concentration difficulties.
Similarly, the Ministry of Health (Minsa) in Panama has issued guidance regarding the impact of prolonged stress on physical, emotional, and cognitive health. Clinical psychologist Edwin Solís explained that chronic exposure can lead to tension headaches, muscle rigidity, digestive issues, hypertension, and cardiovascular problems. Emotional consequences include anxiety, irritability, and loss of motivation, while behavioral changes may include social isolation or substance misuse.
