Health guides address menopause and aging in Brazil

New resources are addressing the health transitions of women and the aging population in Brazil. According to the Brazilian Menopause Study, 87.9% of women aged 45 to 65 experience climacteric symptoms, with a median menopause age of 48. FEBRASGO estimates approximately 17 million Brazilian women between 40 and 65 are in this transition phase.

Medical experts note that perimenopause involves significant hormonal fluctuations that can impact sleep, mood, bone health, and body composition. To assist with this transition, the book ‘Perimenopause Survival Guide’ by Dr. Heather Hirsch has been released in Brazil, offering scientific evidence and practical strategies for managing physical and emotional changes.

Additionally, as the population of Brazilians over 65 has grown by 57.4% in the last 12 years according to IBGE, new literature such as ‘De Volta ao Começo: Uma Jornada Pelo Envelhecimento’ by Ney Messias Jr. focuses on healthy aging. The work emphasizes cognitive health and an integrative approach to physical, emotional, and social well-being during maturity.
