Health experts advise on hydration, caffeine, and sleep habits
Health experts and researchers are providing guidance on morning routines, caffeine consumption, and hydration. To improve morning wellness, experts suggest drinking 250 to 500 milliliters of water immediately after waking to replenish fluids lost during sleep, which can aid concentration and digestion.
Regarding caffeine, individuals should monitor for signs of sensitivity, such as rapid heartbeat, anxiety, tremors, gastrointestinal discomfort, or disrupted sleep patterns. While caffeine blocks adenosine to mask fatigue, its effects vary based on genetics and metabolism. Research from Showa University in Japan also indicates that the aroma of coffee alone may reduce feelings of anxiety and fatigue by influencing brain waves.
For optimal rest, experts recommend limiting afternoon naps to 10–30 minutes between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM to avoid entering deep sleep, which can cause grogginess upon waking. Additionally, tea can contribute significantly to daily hydration, as its mild diuretic effect is generally insufficient to cause dehydration, provided it is not consumed in excessive concentrations with high sugar content.
