Health infrastructure expands in Maricá and Niterói
Public health infrastructure is expanding in the Rio de Janeiro region with new developments in Maricá and Niterói.
In Maricá, the Inoã 1 Family Health Unit (USF) has nearly doubled in size following modernization and expansion works. The facility now covers 345.28 square meters and serves approximately 7,500 residents. The renovation includes 26 rooms for vaccination, gynecological care, and dentistry, as well as a pharmacy that is now four times larger than its previous capacity.
In Niterói, a new Family Doctor Module is being established in the Palmeiras community. Following the expropriation of a property, the unit is expected to serve roughly 9,000 residents. The facility will include medical and dental offices, pre-consultation areas, and administrative spaces, supported by four family health groups and a dedicated oral health team.
