Health initiatives and cancer screenings announced in Portugal

Various health and wellness initiatives are being organized in Portugal to promote prevention and community well-being.

In Águeda, the non-profit association ACHAR – Mundo Sensível will host “Achar no Parque” at Parque da Alta Vila on September 12. The event includes a workshop on naturopathy and mental health, physical activity sessions, and a community lunch known as the “Festa das Sopas.” The initiative aims to support people with cancer and their families through social interaction and healthy lifestyle promotion.

In Alpiarça, the Portuguese League Against Cancer (Southern Regional Nucleus) is organizing free skin and oral cancer screenings at the Alpiarça Health Center on September 26. The screening is targeted at high-risk individuals, including those over 50 with specific skin characteristics or smokers aged 40 and older. The program is supported by the Municipality of Alpiarça and the Alpiarça USF to emphasize the importance of early detection.
