Health initiatives focus on virus prevention and student wellness for the new school year
As students return to school, health initiatives are focusing on virus prevention and the promotion of healthy lifestyle habits among children and adolescents.
Key preventative measures for the school season include maintaining up-to-date vaccination schedules for diseases such as measles, mumps, rubella, chickenpox, and influenza. Additionally, proper hand hygiene—using soap and water for at least 20 seconds or hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol—and ensuring adequate ventilation in homes and classrooms are essential strategies to reduce infection risks.
In support of these goals, the Vithas healthcare group has resumed its ‘Aula Salud Colegios’ program. This initiative involves healthcare professionals conducting workshops in schools to teach students about nutrition, mental health, hand hygiene, and first aid, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). In Málaga, the program has reached hundreds of participants, contributing to a broader national effort that has trained over 5,140 students across 57 educational centers in the first eight months of 2026.
