Vision health initiatives expand across Argentina and Mexico
Various regional health programs are addressing vision and skin health needs across Latin America. In Argentina, the Crecer Sanos program in La Rioja has evaluated 16,000 students, warning of rising myopia linked to excessive screen use. In Río Negro, the Enfocar program has launched in General Roca, aiming to distribute between 7,000 and 9,000 free eyeglasses following high community demand. Additionally, the municipality of Presidencia Roque Sáenz Peña reported benefiting over 4,800 residents through its free prescription eyewear program.
In Mexico, a strategic alliance between the National System for Integral Family Development (SNDIF) and RestoringVision has distributed 800,000 reading glasses this year, bringing the total to over 2.1 million beneficiaries since 2019.
Separate dermatological efforts include a skin cancer prevention campaign in Oberá, Argentina, and a successful 'Salvá tu Piel' initiative in San Fernando, which provided screenings to 140 residents and identified several suspicious lesions for medical referral.
