Health initiatives launch in Cameroon and Niger

In Cameroon, the Ngaoundéré Regional Hospital has launched its annual campaign for breast and cervical cancer awareness. Health officials are emphasizing the urgent need for mass screening, noting that 90% to 95% of patients in the region present with advanced stages of the disease. Nationally, approximately 90% of cancers in Cameroon are diagnosed late, which significantly limits therapeutic options and worsens prognoses.

In Niger, the Minister of Health and Public Hygiene, Colonel-Major Garba Hakimi, conducted a monitoring mission in the Zinder region. Accompanied by regional authorities and a representative from UNICEF, the delegation inspected several newly constructed Type 2 Integrated Health Centers (CSI) in the Kantché and Takeita departments. These facilities are designed to provide comprehensive care, including curative and preventive services, laboratories, and prenatal and postnatal consultation rooms.
