Niterói Polyclinic receives new mammography machine

The Malu Sampaio Polyclinic in Niterói has received a new mammography machine to strengthen breast cancer prevention and diagnosis. The facility, which serves over 60,000 registered patients and conducts more than 5,000 monthly appointments, aims to use the new equipment to identify changes more rapidly and facilitate early treatment.

While the municipal government states the equipment will expand access and reduce the need for patient travel, specific details regarding whether the machine replaces an old unit or adds to existing capacity, as well as projected increases in daily or monthly exam volumes, have not been disclosed.
