Health initiatives launched in Várzea Grande and Cuiabá
Health authorities in the Mato Grosso region are implementing new initiatives to improve community access to medical services. In Várzea Grande, the Municipal Health Secretariat conducted a vaccination drive at a local supermarket, providing 110 doses of various vaccines, including Influenza (H1N1), yellow fever, diphtheria, tetanus, and hepatitis B. The action also included vitamin A supplementation for children.
In Cuiabá, the Municipal Health Secretariat and the Empresa Cuiabana de Saúde Pública have expanded the ‘Extended Visit’ project at the Hospital Municipal de Cuiabá (HMC). The program, now active across all four intensive care units (UTIs), allows family members of clinically stable patients to spend longer periods with their loved ones. Medical teams evaluate patients individually to determine eligibility, aiming to reduce patient anxiety and improve the recovery process through family presence.
