Health initiatives promote women's wellness in Mexico

Various health programs are being implemented in Mexico to improve women's medical access and awareness. In Guamúchil, Sinaloa, the Cruz Roja Guamúchil women's volunteer group hosted the “De Mujer a Mujer” forum. The event focused on breast cancer prevention, featuring medical professionals such as gynecologist Elia Castillo and psychologist Patty Jurado. Dr. Castillo emphasized the importance of early detection, noting that Mexico sees between 35,000 and 45,000 annual cases. Recommendations included annual clinical examinations for women over 25 and yearly mammograms for those over 40.

In Isla Mujeres, the Municipal Government and the Municipal DIF system are organizing a gynecological health day on October 31. Held at the Centro de Prevención y Atención a la Diabetes (CEPAD), the initiative provides specialized services including prenatal care, Pap smears, and the removal of contraceptive implants. Dr. Alejandra Núñez will lead consultations covering reproductive health, contraceptive methods, and the management of pelvic pain or menstrual irregularities.
