Health insights on cold weather impacts and endometriosis

Cold weather poses significant risks to cardiovascular health. During winter, blood vessels constrict to conserve heat, which can lead to increased blood pressure and higher strain on the heart. Experts from the American Heart Association note that cold can narrow the coronary arteries, potentially reducing oxygen supply. Physical exertion in the cold, such as shoveling snow, further increases this risk. Research indicates that cold-related deaths significantly outnumber heat-related deaths globally.

Regarding women's health, endometriosis is a chronic condition affecting approximately 10% of women and girls of reproductive age. It occurs when tissue similar to the uterine lining grows outside the uterus, causing inflammation, pain, and potential infertility. Diagnosis often takes between four to twelve years. Key symptoms include chronic pelvic pain, painful menstruation that interferes with daily life, pain during intercourse, and gastrointestinal or urinary issues related to the menstrual cycle.
