Health insights on psoas muscle training and autonomic nervous system regulation
Health and wellness guidance highlights the importance of the psoas muscle and intestinal health for physical stability and autonomic nervous system regulation.
The psoas muscle, part of the deep abdominal muscles, connects the upper and lower body. It consists of the psoas major and the iliacus muscle. Strengthening this area can improve posture, prevent lower back pain, enhance running speed, and assist in maintaining body balance. Experts recommend training these inner muscles with approximately 40% effort to avoid over-reliance on outer muscles.
Additionally, managing the autonomic nervous system can be achieved through intestinal massage. Stimulating the intestines can increase parasympathetic nerve activity, which helps balance the nervous system when sympathetic dominance occurs. Techniques include massaging specific areas near the ribs and pelvic bones for three minutes in the morning and evening to aid stress care and digestion.
