Health inspectors cite food safety violations in Pennsylvania and North Carolina

Health inspectors in Pennsylvania and North Carolina have identified various food safety and sanitation violations at several local establishments.

In Malvern, Pennsylvania, Chester County health inspectors cited NICAMEX LLC for selling prepackaged foods—including shrimp, tamarind, and dried hibiscus—that lacked required labeling such as ingredient statements and nutrition facts. Inspectors ordered the removal of these products from shelves. Additionally, East Star Cuisine Inc. was cited for improper food storage, including meat kept in non-approved grocery bags and rice stored directly on the floor.

In Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, August inspections revealed significant issues in several Charlotte-area restaurants. Violations included moldy produce, improper handwashing, and unsafe food temperatures. Snooze AM Eatery and Rooster’s Wood Fired Kitchen both received low scores due to issues such as improper cooling procedures, soiled equipment, and employees handling phones while wearing food-prep gloves. Rooster’s Wood Fired Kitchen was noted for its seventh consecutive inspection involving a cold-holding violation.
