Health Insurance Fund provides Myfortic to transplant patients without extra cost

The Health Insurance Fund has announced measures to ensure that Myfortic (mycophenolic acid) is available to organ transplant patients without additional out-of-pocket costs. The medication, which is essential for long-term therapy in transplant recipients, will be provided in both 180 mg and 360 mg dosages.

By introducing generic versions of mycophenolic acid into the drug registry, the Fund has fostered market competition, leading to significant price reductions for the original Myfortic brand. The price of the 180 mg dose has decreased by 291 denars, while the 360 mg dose has seen a reduction of 2,012 denars.

Following the adjustment of reference prices, patients will no longer be required to pay the previous supplements of 615 denars for the 180 mg dose and 1,439 denars for the 360 mg dose. These changes are projected to save the Fund approximately one million denars in the second half of 2026.
