Health issues rise among young Vietnamese office workers
Young professionals in Vietnam are increasingly facing chronic health issues due to sedentary work habits and irregular sleep patterns. Many office workers, particularly in the IT and accounting sectors, report suffering from spinal degeneration and disc herniation caused by sitting for 9 to 10 hours daily.
Medical experts note a concerning trend of “rejuvenation” of spinal pathologies, with the highest concentration of patients aged 25 to 35. These individuals often seek physical therapy or acupuncture after work hours to manage persistent pain.
Additionally, many young adults struggle with sleep deprivation caused by late-night work and digital device usage. Attempting to “repay” sleep debt by sleeping late on weekends has proven ineffective, often leading to disrupted circadian rhythms, cognitive difficulties, and increased fatigue during the work week.
