Health leadership changes and new medical residencies in Paraguay and Argentina

In Paraguay, President Santiago Peña has sworn in Isaías Ricardo Fretes Zárate as the new Minister of Public Health and Social Welfare. Fretes Zárate, who previously served as the president of the Administration Council of the Social Security Institute (IPS), is a medical doctor specializing in General Surgery and Coloproctology with an extensive background in academic medicine and health management.

In Argentina, the Ministry of Public Health has launched a new residency program for child and adolescent mental health at Hospital Eva Perón. Minister Luis Medina Ruiz inaugurated the program and appointed Santiago Brunet as the new head of residents. This initiative, supported by the Government of Tucumán, aims to strengthen the provincial healthcare system by training specialized psychiatrists and psychologists to address the growing needs of younger populations.
