Health literacy initiatives promoted in Santarém and Anadia

Health literacy initiatives are being promoted in Portugal through regional meetings and educational sessions. In Santarém, the ULS Lezíria organized the 1st Health Literacy Meeting at the Polytechnic University of Santarém. The event, held on International Health Literacy Day, aimed to create a space for sharing knowledge and best practices among professionals and partners to improve community quality of life.

In Anadia, the Municipal Library is hosting a food literacy session titled ‘Comer Bem sem Complicar’ (Eating Well without Complicating) specifically for young people. Led by a community care nutritionist, the session will cover practical topics such as interpreting food labels, smart shopping, meal planning, and distinguishing credible nutritional information from social media trends and fake news.
