Health Literacy Month emphasizes personal and organizational wellness

October marks Health Literacy Month, a period dedicated to advancing the ability of individuals and organizations to find, understand, and use health-related information to make informed decisions.

Health literacy is recognized by Healthy People 2030 as a social determinant of health that impacts overall well-being and quality of life. While personal health literacy focuses on an individual's capacity to manage their own health, there is an increasing emphasis on organizational health literacy. This concept refers to the degree to which institutions, such as healthcare providers and digital tool developers, design systems that remove barriers to understanding and enable easier navigation of complex healthcare environments.
