Health Minister Georgiadis and MP Polakis agree to debate at Chania Hospital

Greek Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis and SYRIZA MP Pavlos Polakis have agreed to a public debate at Chania Hospital this Friday. The confrontation follows a heated exchange in Parliament regarding staffing shortages and budget allocations within the National Health System (ESY).

Polakis raised concerns over critical personnel deficits, alleging that two internal medicine clinics are operating with only four doctors and claiming that only 20 nursing positions were announced despite a previous promise of 150. In response, Georgiadis defended the government's record, stating that hospital staff increased from 575 to 618 employees and that the budget rose to 60 million euros, compared to 33.35 million euros during Polakis's previous tenure.

The debate is expected to be broadcast live in the presence of hospital staff and medical professionals.
