Health Minister Irena Hrstić inspects Pula Hospital operations during tourist season

Croatian Health Minister Irena Hrstić visited General Hospital Pula to assess its performance amid the peak tourist period. Accompanied by hospital director Andrej Angelini and deputy Daniele Fabris‑Vitković, she toured the unified emergency department, the nuclear medicine unit and the pharmacy, noting recent investments in equipment and workflow.

Hrstić highlighted a steady rise in emergency visits, with the hospital treating about 5,800 patients in July—roughly 700 more than the previous year. Over the past two years, helicopter and maritime emergency services have carried out more than 5,600 interventions, roughly one mission every three hours. She discussed relocating the tourist ambulance closer to the hospital to reduce patient transfers and announced that the Ministry of Health has funded a new radio‑isotope digestor for nuclear medicine, with a CT scanner replacement and a new MRI system slated for acquisition.
