Health ministries in Panama and Bolivia strengthen medical infrastructure

Health authorities in Panama and Bolivia are implementing initiatives to strengthen their respective medical systems through training and equipment upgrades.

In Panama, the Ministry of Health (Minsa) conducted a training tour to bolster the National Medical Device Surveillance Program. The training sessions involved multidisciplinary personnel from Minsa, the Social Security Fund (Caja de Seguro Social), and private hospitals across the Chiriquí, Bocas del Toro, Ngäbe Buglé, Veraguas, Los Santos, Herrera, and Coclé regions. The program aims to improve the management of adverse events related to medical devices and ensure compliance with national regulations.

In Bolivia, the Ministry of Health and Sports delivered high-technology medical equipment to health centers in San Pablo and San Pedro de Tiquina, La Paz. Funded by a $111,542.50 investment from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the equipment includes portable X-ray and ultrasound machines, defibrillators, oxygen supplies, and neonatal care tools. This delivery is part of a national plan to modernize health facilities across all levels in both rural and urban municipalities.
