Health Mobile Units Deployed in Chile and Colombia

The municipal health department of Hijuelas, Chile, added three new mobile health vehicles: a mobile clinic with administrative space, internet connection, medical equipment and electric generator; a rapid‑intervention Toyota Hilux 4×4 equipped with certified emergency kits, defibrillator, oxygen and wheelchair; and a home‑care vehicle for visits to hospitalized or palliative‑care patients. Mayor Verónica Rossat said the units will serve local health centers and were funded with municipal resources, with two additional ambulances to follow.

In Pueblo Rico, Colombia, the municipal hospital received a modern mobile health unit to bring primary‑care services to remote indigenous, Afro‑descendant and farming communities. The vehicle will support health promotion, prenatal care, early‑childhood care, chronic‑disease monitoring, vaccination and other preventive actions. Hospital manager Alexandra Castillejo highlighted its role in reaching families that previously faced limited access, noting that the acquisition was financed by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection.
