Health officials emphasize compassion and safety in medical care

In Ghana, Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh emphasized that while Artificial Intelligence can assist healthcare professionals by easing workloads, it cannot replace human compassion and dignity in patient care. During a visit to the Weija-Gbawe Children’s Specialist Hospital, Akandoh announced the deployment of 10 doctors and 30 nurses and midwives to support the facility, which recently commenced operations as a secondary-level referral center.

In Namibia, the Ministry of Health and Social Services reaffirmed its commitment to patient-centered care during the commemoration of World Patient Safety Day at Windhoek Central Hospital. Deputy Executive Director Taimi Amaambo stated that patient safety is a national responsibility, highlighting the use of the Patient Charter, hospital quality standards, and clinical audit guidelines to identify risks and improve healthcare outcomes.
