Health providers promote early flu vaccinations in New Jersey and Pennsylvania

Health providers in the United States are promoting early flu vaccinations as the season approaches. In New Jersey, healthcare providers are urging families to vaccinate children ahead of a November 30 deadline. This state mandate requires children aged 6 months and older to receive an annual flu shot to attend daycare or preschool, a deadline that has moved up one month compared to last year.

Virtua Health has deployed mobile services units, such as those used at St. Joseph's Child Development Center in Camden, to facilitate easier access for young patients. While nationwide flu activity remains minimal, New Jersey has reported slightly higher activity levels than its neighboring states.

In Pennsylvania, Tower Health is offering “Walk-In Days” throughout October at select Reading Hospital pharmacies in Berks and Montgomery counties. The Reading Hospital 7th Avenue Pharmacy in West Reading will host “Walk-In Wednesdays” on October 7, 14, 21, and 28, while the Reading Hospital Limerick Pharmacy will offer “Walk-In Mondays” on October 12, 19, and 26. No appointments are required for these sessions.
