Health recommendations for beverage consumption during air travel

To maintain health and comfort during flights, experts recommend limiting four specific types of beverages due to the effects of low humidity, cabin pressure, and immobility.

Alcohol should be avoided because its diuretic effect increases dehydration and can intensify physical fatigue. Caffeine, found in coffee, tea, and energy drinks, also acts as a diuretic and may increase anxiety or restlessness. Additionally, sugary sodas can cause abdominal bloating due to gas expansion from pressure changes, as well as energy crashes caused by glucose spikes. Healthier alternatives include water, herbal infusions like ginger or mint, and non-alcoholic mocktails.
