Health regulators in Argentina and Peru issue medical alerts

Health regulatory authorities in Argentina and Peru have issued alerts regarding pharmaceutical distribution and product quality.

In Argentina, the National Administration of Drugs, Foods and Medical Technology (ANMAT) has suspended the authorization of Droguería Lomas S. A. to perform inter-jurisdictional distribution of medicines. The suspension follows an inspection in Córdoba where regulators identified failures to comply with Good Distribution Practices. Although the company was given 15 days to correct deficiencies, ANMAT reported that only partial evidence of corrective measures was provided. A sanitary summary has been initiated against the firm and its technical director.

In Peru, the General Directorate of Medicines, Supplies and Drugs (Digemid) has ordered the withdrawal and destruction of two medical products after they failed quality control tests. The affected items include a specific lot of POLYWIN SAFETY intravenous cannulas (lot 3247924K) produced by Tecnología y Materiales S. R. L., and a lot of Ifosfamida 1g injectable powder (lot 07102) used in cancer treatment, produced by Perulab S. A. Authorities have advised health professionals and consumers to verify their stocks and avoid using the identified lots.
