Health reports show stagnant heart attack mortality in Argentina and declining dengue cases in Honduras
In Argentina, hospital mortality rates for acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction have remained stagnant at 8.6% between 2015 and 2024. An analysis of over 7,500 patients across 209 institutions revealed that while more than 90% of patients received artery-opening treatments, over 60% of these interventions occurred outside recommended timeframes.
Medical specialists will address these delays and the need for provincial care networks at the 52nd Argentine Congress of Cardiology. The event is expected to host approximately 15,000 participants.
In Honduras, the Hospital Escuela has reported a decrease in dengue hospitalizations in 2026 compared to the same period in 2025. Total admissions dropped to 193 from 265 the previous year. Despite the decline, children remain the most vulnerable group, accounting for 85% of hospitalizations. Health authorities noted there have been no reported deaths or critical cases at the facility so far this year, but they continue to urge the public to monitor symptoms like high fever and muscle pain.
