Health risks associated with improper water purifier use
Common mistakes regarding water filtration systems can lead to significant health risks, including damage to the digestive system, immune system, liver, and kidneys.
One major error is the assumption that any water source can be made safe by a filtration machine. Using highly contaminated water, such as untreated well water or water with heavy iron or lime content, can overwhelm filtration technology. This can cause membranes to tear or clog, allowing toxins like arsenic, lead, and ammonium to pass through, potentially leading to chronic kidney failure or cancer.
Additionally, poor hygiene practices around the dispenser can spread disease. Sharing a single glass or drinking directly from the faucet can turn the water outlet into a transmission point for bacteria and viruses, such as HP bacteria, influenza, or herpes simplex virus (HSV).
