Health services expansion in Chivilcoy and San José La Laja
In Chivilcoy, Argentina, the health department has completed one month of implementing a spontaneous demand system at the San José, La Unión, and Sur Primary Health Care Centers (CAPS). This initiative aims to strengthen primary care by redirecting low-complexity medical consultations, categorized as green codes, to these centers. This prevents residents from needing to visit the Municipal Hospital for minor ailments. These CAPS centers are available Monday through Friday, from 7:00 to 19:00, without the requirement of a prior appointment.
In San José La Laja, Tequisquiapan, a local health house has been rehabilitated and reopened to provide free first-contact medical attention and basic medications. The reopening is part of a municipal government strategy to bring health services closer to local communities.
