Health studies address food allergies and heat stress impacts
A study by researchers at Université Paris Cité involving 782 children from the PARIS cohort indicates that early childhood food allergies do not necessarily lead to picky eating or eating disorders in adolescence. In fact, adolescents with medically diagnosed food allergies before age two showed higher levels of food enjoyment and a lower tendency toward emotional overeating compared to their peers.
Separately, as summer vacations end in Germany, concerns are rising regarding high temperatures in classrooms. Experts from the Deutsche Allianz Klimawandel und Gesundheit warn that heat stress can impair students' attention, working memory, and reaction speeds. Children are noted to be more vulnerable to heat than adults because they absorb heat faster and sweat less efficiently. School administrations in various German states maintain discretion over heat-related breaks, such as in Baden-Württemberg, where recommendations exist for relief when outdoor temperatures reach 25 degrees Celsius in the shade by 11:00 AM.
