Heidi Health raises $340 million to expand healthcare AI

Heidi Health, an Australian healthcare AI startup, has secured $340 million in new funding, bringing its valuation to $900 million. The financing includes a $100 million Series C led by Blackbird and a $240 million growth investment led by General Catalyst’s Customer Value Fund. The company plans to use the capital to expand its AI Care Partner capabilities, moving beyond its core AI scribe function to provide supervised agentic tools for clinicians.

As part of its North American expansion, Heidi is investing $25.4 million CAD to establish its North American headquarters in Toronto, Canada. This move is expected to create approximately 30 new jobs in engineering, clinical, and commercial departments. The company reported significant growth, with annual recurring revenue rising from $1 million to $50 million in two years.

Parallel to these corporate developments, healthcare industry leaders are increasingly focused on the return on investment (ROI) for AI deployments. Discussions at recent industry events emphasize that successful implementation must move beyond mere task automation to deliver measurable clinical, operational, and financial value. Experts suggest that AI should be evaluated by completed workflows and improved patient outcomes rather than just the volume of administrative tasks handled.
