Healthcare Authority performs advanced pacemaker implantations in Aswan
The General Authority for Healthcare announced the successful performance of three precise surgeries to implant permanent pacemakers at the Nile Specialized Hospital in Edfo, Aswan Governorate.
Among these procedures was the first successful implantation of a Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy Defibrillator (CRT-D) within the Authority’s hospitals in Aswan. This advanced device combines cardiac resynchronization to improve heart muscle contraction efficiency with an internal defibrillator to protect against serious arrhythmia.
Other successful interventions included the implantation of a dual-chamber permanent pacemaker (DDDR) to maintain synchronization between the atria and ventricles, and a single-chamber ventricular pacemaker (VVI) to treat bradycardia.
The Authority stated that localizing these advanced cardiac and interventional catheterization technologies in Upper Egypt is part of a strategy to enhance healthcare capabilities and provide specialized services near patients' residences. This approach aims to reduce the need for patient transfers to other governorates, thereby minimizing travel hardships and costs while promoting equitable access to advanced medical services.
